Job Elements: -
• To work co-operatively as part of a shift supervision team or “pool” in organising and leading work activities on the shift.
• To ensure that the shift operators are fully trained and meet the expected competency levels required in their job role(s)
• To demonstrate leadership behaviours and qualities consistent with corporate values.
• To uphold and maintain standards of performance (production output, quality and service) of individuals and teams.
• To communicate with shift personnel on machine targets and performance levels and to encourage and motivate team members to optimise performance.
• To address all sub-standard performance and/or unacceptable behaviours according to the principles set out in the disciplinary procedure.
• To provide data into the daily reports for review by management.
• To carry out customer complaint investigations and communicate corrective actions to the shift and to report corrective actions to NPD/Production Management.
• To co-ordinate and prioritise work duties of shift engineers.
• To take a leading role in ensuring that all working practices are safe and meet the Company’s mission of “injury free everyday”.
• To manage the Health and Safety of all employees and contractors in their control.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum 5 years in a Manufacturing Process/continuous production environment as a senior operator/lead hand
• 2 years in a “people management role” OR 3-5 years in a technical management role
• GCSE standard school leaving qualifications including English Language, Mathematics and Science
• Technical qualifications (e.g. C&G, completed apprenticeship) - Ideally degree or equivalent
• Good verbal Communication Skills including ability to deliver shift briefings when required
• Good administrative and record keeping skills, sound report writing skills.
• PC Literate including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Sound working knowledge of Lean methodologies and statistical process control
