The Chief Fire Officers Association (“CFOA”) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic communications professional to promote the professional voice of the UK Fire & Rescue Services. As the lead on a wide range of issues the successful candidate will promote the Association’s achievements, maintain a positive corporate image and manage the corporate style and brand of CFOA.

The membership - the senior and most experienced Fire & Rescue professionals in the UK - is at the heart of the Association and this role will ensure that their expertise and opinion is disseminated as widely and effectively as possible. The successful candidate will therefore not only communicate with the Association’s own members but will also influence key external decision makers in central & local government, the Fire & Rescue community, the media and the public by disseminating the Associations knowledge and outlook across the sector.

The successful candidate will have a passion to influence the evolution of a key public service and be ambitious for his or her career development. If you have:

• Successful experience in a communication role in a medium sized commercial, public sector or charity organisation, with responsibility for strategy;
• A well-developed understanding of communication techniques and standards;
• A background in issues management and sound judgement under pressure;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, electronic document management and social media platforms; and,
• Numeracy and financial management experience enabling effective management of budgets;
