The Role:
• Contribute to the Board agenda and be prepared to challenge the business strategy, performance, risk appetite and use of resources. Generate valuable ideas and give wise counsel that will shape the Society’s continued success.
• Operate within the effective governance structures and risk management disciplines and in line with current best practice and PRA and FCA requirements.
• Attend, be fully prepared for and contribute to Board, subcommittee and extraordinary meetings.
• Take collective responsibility for the decisions of the Board where this is appropriate and in the interests of the Society and uphold the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

The Candidate:
• Substantial track record of success as an Executive and/or Non-Executive Director in retail banking. Commercial banking experience will be an additional advantage.
• Sound understanding of risk management and the UK regulatory framework for financial services, both at operational and strategic levels.
• Strong commercial background and understanding. Proven success of developing and delivering sustainable profitable customer facing businesses, ideally with an element of digital customer engagement.
• Real enthusiasm for mutuality and serving the needs of members. Demonstrable integrity. Empathy with Wales; its communities, economy
and culture.
