Our client is recognised as an Ofsted Outstanding provider, following inspection in October 2013. Ofsted rated the Overall effectiveness of their provision, along with Outcomes for learners, Quality of teaching, learning and assessment and Effectiveness of leadership and management as Outstanding. In addition, the Quality Assurance Agency, which independently reports on the quality and standards of degree provision, awarded the College more commendations than any other university or Higher Education establishment in the UK to date when it published its report in July 2013.
They are now looking to recruit a Student Adviser to join them in their team of professionals within the Student Services, offering advice, information and guidance to students and staff.
Providing high quality careers, accommodation and welfare guidance to all learners and prospective learners of the college, in one to one interviews, telephone help-line guidance and e-guidance, you will provide specialist workshops to students to include; supporting level one and two learners into employment through the promotion and provision of appropriate work experience, work placement and volunteering opportunities, supporting all level 3 students with UCAS applications, and supporting HE learners pre-course, on course and into employment.
As well as supporting College tutors in delivering careers education, you will engage with the students, attend College Open Days and participate in appropriate networks inside and outside college. Assisting with welfare, finance and bursary provision, you will record interactions and interventions as appropriate and take part in Induction Programmes for students attending College.
In order to be successful in this role, candidates must hold or be willing to work towards NVQ 3/4 in Guidance. With substantive experience in Further Education or Higher Education, you will have the ability to engage with a wide range of customers, taking into account individual needs and communication requirements. Having an enthusiasm for working directly with learners, regardless of age or level of study is key as is the ability to develop a strong careers and welfare provision for students that has a demonstrable impact on the student experience.
Due to the nature of the role, this post may entail some evening or occasional weekend work, therefore a level of flexibility is required.
