Student Support Manager
Starting Salary: Grade 5/6 depending on formal qualifications and experience £19,817 – £25,727 per annum pro-rata
Hours: 8.15am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, term-time only
The Holt is a popular and oversubscribed 11-18 girls’ comprehensive school which converted to academy status in July 2011.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. The successful candidate may have had previous experience in the area of social work, health care or youth work.
The successful applicant will lead a team of two Student Support Assistants and work closely with staff, parents and outside agencies to support students who are experiencing difficulties associated with school including attendance, friendship issues, mental and physical health issues. The role will include the provision of a wide range of pastoral support to all students across the school. The Student Support Manager will take a leading role in liaising with outside support agencies such as social care, school nurses and counsellors and will be line managed by the pastoral Deputy Headteacher.
The successful candidate needs to have secure knowledge and skills in dealing with student medical issues and a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation. Candidates need to demonstrate an ability to prioritise workload and work proactively. Good knowledge of Microsoft office and administrative skills including the ability to record meeting notes are also essential. Candidates need to demonstrate a compassionate and firm manner with an appreciation for the need of sensitivity and discretion. The ability to use SIMS would be an advantage but training will be provided if necessary.
