Mechanical Engineering Manager - South West

Primary Purpose of the Position:

To lead the Mechanical engineering discipline to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient Mechanical Engineering function for the business. The role
holder will also need to ensure that the department has the correct skill-base and calibre of engineers available to support the strategic plan and deliver the
engineering solutions to company projects on-time, on-quality and on-cost in accordance with customer and business needs.

Secondary Purpose of the Position:

To be responsible for the career and learning development of all engineering staff and for ensuring that the engineering capability and technology know-how of
our people matches the strategic and tactical business requirement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 Thorough, proven technical knowledge in Mechanical Engineering
 Experienced Team Manager
 Solid understanding of engineering and lifecycle management processes
 Experience of process improvement
 Ability to understand the whole system concept, drill down into the detail when necessary and then assess the status of a project and any actions required
 Ability to challenge but not cause offence
 Above all, the person must be able to inspire and motivate engineers, he or she must be able to assess, counsel and coach when needed
 As a functional responsibility the role requires working through others therefore the ability to influence is important
