What is IT Recruitment, why a background in Telesales and what will I be doing?

Well, to put it simply: Sales on the telephone. Crazy right? You know what it is, most people do but what you really want to know is "what will I have to do?" and "what will I get out of the job?"

Simples:
You will be using your god given talent of influencing and communicating with new people every day. The phone on your desk is your portal to the rest of the world and picking it up is your responsibility. Initially we'll expect you to pick up that magic piece of technology and contact candidates who are on the market looking for their own perfect job. Something you will have experience of yourself so you can relate to these people directly.
Using a number of 'tools' including JobBoards/LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter (yes we pay you to use Facebook and Twitter) and other Social Media networks and your own natural skills at finding the proverbial needle in a world sized haystack, you will be responsible for finding our clients their ideal candidates.

The bits nobody tells you about

We are very open with the job and what it entails of course, we can't put everything down on this job advert or you would still be reading it this time next year, but there are a few things we can tell you about right here and now:

Being in a Sales environment is not like working for your parents or your friends. It's a fast moving and sometimes stressful place to be. IT Recruitment is not like other industries either, moving faster than you can keep up, sometimes you can feel like you're swimming before you have learnt to walk. Rejection is a big part of this job too, at any level. So you should be mentally strong enough to deal with being told 'NO' on a regular basis. You will be at your desk for most of the day, so, if you don't like the idea of being in an office all day then you should really stop reading and click the next ad.

The above is a real -life snapshot of some of the more mundane and negative aspects of being in Sales. They're not secrets; it will be the same in almost any Sales environment you work in.
