Salary: £19,012 actual per annum

Our client is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK alone and numbers continue to grow.

The charity is looking for a Dementia Support Worker to work across both Manchester and Salford working within their Dementia Support Service team. You will be a highly motivated and organised person who is able to provide advice and support to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.

Our client's Support Workers do not deliver hands-on care; they do provide information, emotional support and assistance with accessing appropriate services. Therefore you will have excellent communication skills, experience of computerised record keeping and report writing, and an excellent understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their families. You will provide support via one to one sessions as well as group support at Peer Support Activity groups for people with dementia.

Our client's Manchester, Salford and Trafford society's work from two offices (in Hulme and Sale), it is anticipated that this post will be based in their Manchester Office. The post holder will need to be able to travel across both the boroughs of Manchester and Salford to go out on home visits and facilitate groups, travel to the Trafford office occasionally as well as out of the area to attend training.
