EY's E-Discovery team are growing and looking to hire someone who wants to make a start or take the next step in their career in forensic technology.

The role will involve activities throughout the entire life cycle of a forensic technology engagement, including the identification, preservation and collection of a variety of data sources including traditional sources such as laptops, desktops and Servers as well as more advanced collections including those from content management systems and over-the-network collection.

Once data has been collected, the data can be processed and analysed, which will involve the use of several industry-standard tools, in addition to manipulating and transforming large structured and unstructured data sets. It is essential that the candidate is comfortable regularly drawing upon a broad range of technical skills including working with computer hardware, operating forensic applications and programmatically manipulating data using SQL or an object-oriented programming language.

They should demonstrate a passion for technology, awareness for current IT trends, in addition to a genuine desire to build a career in this field. We operate in a fast-moving, high-pressured environment therefore the candidate should thrive in a dynamic and reactive team. There is significant opportunity for travel so the candidate should be willing to travel both on domestic and international assignments.

Skills/Qualifications required:

  • Database experience, particularly SQL programming and design of relational databases
  • Experience in programming eg industry experience or a significant implementation project at university
  • 2:1 or 1st Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of networks and operating systems
  • Practical experience working with hardware components that make up a PC
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications including customisation and automation
  • Strong independent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical way.
