An opportunity has arisen for a highly flexible and energetic Network Engineer (X3) to support the IT system and program infrastructure to meet business requirements. As a part of a small, team within a very large enterprise, the role requires a broad set of skills and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
Key Skills and Responsibilities:
- The role may require travel within the UK. The role may also require a degree of out of hours/on call work.
- The role requires UK Security Clearance.
- Supporting network and network security changes to the UK IT environment to meet the developing requirements of the business, enhancing the network architecture by increasing resiliency and availability.
- Evaluating new technologies and toolsets for use within Boeing Defence and liaising with Boeings US Network Team on the design and implementation of new network capabilities.
- The job holder must not be constrained by a rigid job specification and be willing to pick up additional duties as necessary.
- They must be enthusiastic and hands on in their approach and possess excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
- They must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the organization and be confident representing BDUK to external clients and partners.
- Network Design Engineer with strong Cisco design skills (CCNA/CCNP/CCDP), and the design of secure, resilient, available networks
- Design and deployment of network engineering utilising Cisco ISR, Cisco implementation of IPSEC VPN and DMVPN, Cisco Switches.
- Routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and multi VRF designs Network security.
- Firewall and Remote Access systems including Juniper and Checkpoint appliances, IDS and associated network security devices.
- Network capacity management and QoS design/implementation to support VOIP implementations Experience of designing network monitoring and management solutions.
- Design of secure (MOD RESTRICED) networks that conform to CESG architectural and security standards.
- Provision of 3rd/4th line network technical support.
- Support the network design activities through a development, design, test and implementation life cycle. Support project planning activities as required.
- Perform cost benefit analysis for new network solutions. Present findings. Support decision making.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Cisco certification (CCNP/CCDP)
- F5/Infoblox/Juniper Experience
- VPN Technology Virtual Environments
- Defence experience desirable
- Ideally has UK MoD Security Clearance already, if not, candidate must be able to obtain it within appropriate timescales to start role.
