Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation)West Midlandsto £35k + ben

Our client specialise in all aspects of design, development and manufacture of bespoke automation solutions and provide a diverse range of handling systems for high volume manufacturing environments on a global basis in a number of market sectors. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth for 2014, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly self-motivated Mechanical design professional to complement their established and successful team.

Reporting to the Technical Management team, the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level in Mechanical Engineering, and will demonstrate skills and experience allied to the design of special purpose automation systems using the SolidWorks 3D CAD package. Tasked with undertaking conceptual design and detailing, you will be responsible for the generation of BOM's and liaising closely with the Machine and Assembly departments as well as visiting customers and suppliers as required, so excellent communication skills at all levels are essential for the role.

You will be able to develop conceptual designs whilst working as part of a committed and successful Design Department, and will be skilled in working on a range of technically challenging and varied projects concurrently. With previous experience and knowledge of automation solutions and concepts and ideally possessing some practical experience of Mechanical Assembly, you will also work with the Sales team to generate proposal drawings and associated end user manuals as well as with the Procurement team when required.

You will also be involved with liaison with key suppliers and communicate with customers, responding to enquiries and updating on project design progress where required, whilst maintaining design records and producing associated parts lists as appropriate.

The ability to work to tight timescales and prioritise effectively whilst adopting a flexible approach are critical requirements for success in this position, so if you are seeking a fresh challenge within a long established, globally renowned and highly regarded stable and progressive environment and can demonstrate the relevant skills and experience, then send a copy of your cv to design@p-t-r.co.uk or call the Design Team at Premier Technical Recruitment on 01827 68400 for a confidential discussion regarding your requirements.
