The role of the IT Project Manager is primarily focused on the delivery of software application implementation and modification projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • They will be responsible for developing project plans and deliverables, directs all project phases and acts as primary customer contact.
  • Participates in or develops mechanisms for establishing, monitoring and integrating project elements, product configuration and communications concerning change management processes and decisions.
  • Coordinates the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project and team, finance, planning, scheduling and line management.
  • Uses trend, earned value and variance analyses and risk assessments to develop plans or to recommend change.
  • Negotiates project changes and incorporates changes into project control systems to maintain work statements, cost and schedule baselines.
  • Transitions projects to customer for on-going support.
  • Performs project close-out and documents lessons learned.
  • The individual must be enthusiastic and hands on in their approach and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • They must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the organization including level and be confident representing BDUK to external clients and partners.
  • The role may require travel within UK and probably will require periods of time working and staying away from the office base in Bristol or Milton Keynes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive Project Management experience; ideally holding a recognised project management accreditation, PRINCE 2, PMI/PMP, APMP.
  • Experience of managing software application implementation projects is highly desirable Highly competent in using MS Project & the MS Office products in general.
  • Thought leader has developed solutions to unique challenges that will have served as precedent for future decisions.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of complexity and risk projects across operations, technology and change.
  • Experience of the pricing of work packages including risk weightings would be desirable
