Police Community Support Officers- Fixed term until 31st March 2016 Local Policing Various locations throughout Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Telford Policing areas Alliance C Salary: £18,909 to £20,940 pro rata per annum 1 x 30 hours term time only (39 weeks) Mon – Fri based at Worcester 37 hour posts - 14% shift allowance and weekend working for generic shift pattern, 3.75% weekend working for safer schools PS/2014/253 Previous applicants need not apply. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) as Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). The role of these teams, which are made up of Police Officers, Special Constables and PCSOs, is to provide a visible and accessible uniformed presence to improve the quality of life in the community and offer greater public reassurance. Safer Neighbourhood Team PCSOs work shifts from 8.00am to midnight over 7 days. There are also vacancies for Safer School PCSOs who work in a secondary school or college to provide re-assurance and improve the safety of the school community, help to resolve conflict and work alongside school exclusion / pastoral staff to help young people fulfil their potential. Safer School PCSOs work between Monday and Friday during term time and revert to a general SNT shift pattern during the school holidays. Candidates for both roles will need to evidence the following in their application: • Grade A-C GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics • Experience of dealing with members of the public including dealing with confrontational and conflict situations • The ability to gather and analyse information in order to solve problems • Good customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills • Basic IT skills • The ability to work on their own initiative • The focus of these duties may vary according to the specific posting (e.g. Safer Schools). The duties of this role involve Shift working, prolonged periods of walking and cycling and a requirement to wear a uniform and protective clothing. The post holder must hold a current, full clean driving licence. Interviews will be held during weeks commencing 13th and 20th October 2014.
