Solutions Architect (Financial Services - Management Consulting)

Role Overview

The role of Technology/Solutions Architect involves working with leading financial services clients in an architecture advisory, consulting, thought leadership and delivery role.

In an advisory capacity it involves working with clients to provide advice on developing technology architecture strategies, to communicate complex technology situations and their solutions to senior executives, and to assess challenging technology problems with direction on how to resolve the issues.

In a thought consulting and leadership role it is to provide a point of view on new and existing technologies and how they may be applied in business value generating ways. This will be in an area of specialism such as channel applications, cloud computing, high performance computing, re-engineering core banking platforms, trading platforms to name a few. Most importantly in a delivery capacity is the ability to architect, design and estimate complex Capital Markets or Banking Solutions. The role requires someone with a passion for the detail, an understanding of governance, experience in system integration, and a capability to frame and deliver a compelling argument.

Key Responsibilities

Consultant able to take any of the following roles:

  • Consulting on how to tackle problems and break them down to deliver faster and cost effectively
  • Lead solution architect of bespoke or package software deliveries
  • Member of strategy teams where they take a technology consulting role
  • Member of client technology architecture function, including the ability to mobilise an architecture function as well as participate in it
  • Within Capco, to act in the capacity of coach or mentor to junior consulting staff, enabling them to develop their skills in technology architecture, and to actively participate in the development of Capco's technology practice

Experience

  • A strong consulting background with some advisory experience
  • Demonstrable financial services experience (retail banking or capital markets) either within a consulting firm or industry
  • Technical domain architecture experience in applications, security, infrastructure, integration or networks (at least one area of expertise)
  • Has previously demonstrated solution ownership across a number of different types of application across the full delivery life cycle
  • Understands and can apply technical considerations to designs across all architecture domains - ie security implications, infrastructure requirements, capacity planning
  • Can evidence a deep understanding of technology architecture across multiple major functions/departments and a comprehensive grasp of emerging technologies and their potential benefits for technology architecture
  • Experience in enterprise architecture analysis and design, developing technology architecture roadmaps that align with and underpin an organisations business strategy
  • Can advise on architecture choices, benefits and constraints of a given application type or characteristic
  • Experience of leading customer facing engagements and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ideally the ability to innovative by using existing or new technologies
  • Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman
