Senior Market Analyst - Market Databases - London - Up to GBP45,000

The Market Databases Group maintains a number of databases serving the UK's retail finance sector. All the UK's major retail banks, together with many niche and regional operators, provide current account, savings, unsecured personal loans and mortgage data at granular level on a weekly and monthly basis.

As the Senior Market Analyst in the Market Databases Group you will be required to support the Head of Analysis with the following:

  • Preparing member presentations for the majority of major UK banks and building societies. This will require you to extract data about mortgages, savings, current accounts and unsecured personal loans from the Market Databases using a Business Intelligence tool, Cognos, and exporting it into Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prepare analysis for ad-hoc requests including but not restricted to, market share, distribution and growth, utilising a range of attributes and measures across all databases.
  • Utilising our in-house GIS software to generate maps which benefit the above mentioned presentations and ad-hoc requests.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of existing reports.
  • Under guidance you will be responsible for the design of new regular reports.
  • Check any outgoing reports and member queries for accuracy.
  • Investigate any data anomalies, escalating when necessary.
  • Liaise with the data processing team regarding possible solutions in case of data anomalies.
  • Aid the sign off of our weekly services by running and checking existing reports before referring to the Head of Analysis for sign off.

Skills and Attributes

  • Conversant with statistics, with the ability to interpret disparate sets of data
  • Advanced VBA programmer for Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Excel user including pivot-tables, manipulating and inferring large data sets and the creation of reports including dashboards with a range of visuals.
  • Ability to adhere to strict design guidelines in relation to presentation and reports to be supplied to our members and or presented at various conferences.
  • Understanding of BI tools, Cognos, or similar. Transferable skills will be taken into account.
  • Ability to convey complex solutions in a clear and concise manner
  • While not a primary requisite, some basic SAS experience will be advantageous.
