Background
The growth of the business in recent years means that the company now has a requirement to recruit a full-time Buyer who will offer support to the Purchasing Manager.
The Company
Our client is a successful family owned manufacturing business employing 55 staff in Westbury, Wiltshire. The company manufactures high specification rubber compounds with sales of £m20 in the UK and across the world. In 2013 the company purchased a factory in Spain with an additional €m18 turnover. The success of the business is built on working closely with our customers and suppliers to achieve world class outcomes.
The Position
Buyer
Purpose
- Purchasing of goods and services as required for the business in an appropriate quantity, on time and at a competitive price.
- Manage stock levels and material requirements.
- Provide support to the Purchasing Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Identify raw material requirements using the in-house IT system.
- Timely issue of purchase orders on approved suppliers taking into account price, quantity, delivery requirements etc.
- Process purchase orders through the company IT system.
- Raise GRN's to enable the booking in of raw materials received.
- Check supplier order acknowledgements.
- Negotiate and work with suppliers to achieve the best outcomes.
- Monthly reporting of supplier performance.
- Raw material price tracking.
- General office duties.
Relationships
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager with key interactions internally with production planning, sales and finance and externally with suppliers.
Requirements
This position will suit a self-starter who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
Responsible to the Purchasing Manager, you will coordinate and monitor all supplier issues in line with company expectations.
The right candidate will be competent in negotiating with suppliers, capable of providing cost effective acquisition solutions and a competent communicator at all levels. The role is both customer and supplier facing in supporting effective procurement to ensure production efficiencies and customer expectations are continually achieved and exceeded.
