Mechanical Design Engineer

On their behalf we are recruiting a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join their busy Technical Department. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of developing new ideas from Concept through into production. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work both on their own and as part of a multi-disciplined R&D team.

Key Responsibilties

• Work within a new product multi-disciplined development team environment

• Work on New Product Development from a given specification to agreed timescales

• To generate detailed general assembly drawings and Bill of materials ensuring they are to the agreed standards and within specification

• Generate comprehensive component specifications and designs

• To reduce product costs by re-designing existing products, including designing new components and / or assembly processes.

• Assist production engineering when requested.

• To collaborate fully with production engineering on new product launch.

• Design testing criteria

Skills & Experience Required

• A good working knowledge of Solidworks / Solidworks Composer / FE Analysis /AutoCAD lite

• Microsoft Office 2007

• HND or degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design

• Desirable Knowledge: Pressure vessel Design & Calculations, Pipe work assemblies, pneumatic circuits, air-conditioning or refrigeration, sheet metal assemblies, machined components, Injection mould component design.

• Strong Mechanical design engineering experience

• Excellent communication and problem solving skills

• DFA & DFM knowledge

• Experience with European and far eastern suppliers

• Rapid prototype experience
