MINI Plant Oxford celebrated 100 years of car-making in 2013 and remains at the heart of the MINI manufacturing network. It is one of the most modern and technically-advanced car plants in the world.

Due to continued growth and success, an excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Weekend Control Engineer to join their team and play a key role within their maintenance function, working three days per week from Friday - Sunday.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a high calibre maintenance professional from an automated process background looking to take their next step with an outstanding, reputable and exciting business.

Joining one of the most upbeat, forward-thinking and groundbreaking companies in the automotive sector, you’ll have the chance to fulfil your career ambitions whilst being part of something amazing.

As a Weekend Control Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting MINI’s maintenance function, resolving any technical issues and planning for future eventualities.

With a focus on improving the manufacturing infrastructure and reacting to problems, you’ll seek to optimise processes to improve efficiency and increase output.

You’ll analyse all levels of the control system, identify and rectify faults and undertake a range of problem solving activities with your emphasis being on the theory over the hands-on elements. Undertaking effective planning in order to avoid breakdowns, you will also plan for obsolescence and ensure that the next generation of manufacturing processes is developed.

Additionally, you’ll develop and implement new business systems to ensure best working practices within the Maintenance Team.

Please note, as this is a shift based role, working 33.5 hours per week, holiday has been calculated as the related percentage of the hours worked.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

- At least five years’ maintenance experience gained within an automated process environment
- Siemens S7 PLC experience
- An NVQ Level 4 (instructor level) qualification in a mechanical, electrical or technical discipline OR a HNC OR a degree – with additional specialist knowledge of control systems

As a Weekend Control Engineer, you must have strong communication, multi-tasking and problem solving skills, as well as a methodical and driven approach.
