Salary - GBP35,500 - GBP59,500

Location - County Hall, Chelmsford

We are now embarking upon our second phase of transformation - which will see us complete our journey to becoming a commissioning-led, outcomes based organisation - whilst delivering a 3 year programme of cross-cutting, innovative projects.

The Information Services Delivery Programme is one of the key enabling programmes to underpin and support this transition focusing on improved partnership collaboration through aligned security standards and information sharing alongside a refresh of the complete core technology stack. The programme is made up of four key work streams; End User Computing Refresh, Data Centre Refresh, IS Capabilities (2) & Information Governance.

This is a small, technical team within Information Services, and is responsible for maintaining and developing the Council's portfolio of web based applications including the Internet, Intranet and supporting services. The team is currently working on a number of exciting projects including migrating existing web based services to a brand new SharePoint platform, and complete replacement of the Council's GIS infrastructure.

The role will be focused on making enhancements to an existing SharePoint portal used as a communication tool for information to schools in Essex. The role will require an agile approach to the development of the portal and require excellent interpretation and solution playback skills. Excellent knowledge of SharePoint 2010 and standard SharePoint feature sets required as well as custom development. Experience of forms based authentication would be advantageous.

To be successful in your application you must have:

• A broad knowledge of Microsoft technologies and software development practices.
• At least 12 months' experience in ASP.NET, C#, SharePoint 2010, and SQL Server is essential.
• Understand the 'out-of-the-box' functionality of SharePoint and associated web services.
• Good communication skills are essential as the role is customer facing and you will need to interpret customer requirements into deliverables.
• Capable of working independently and managing your own workload to successfully deliver project tasks on time and budget.
