Based at our key Early Development site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, you will enjoy a position at the very forefront of our toxicology operations. Indeed, as a personal licence holder, you will be provided with the opportunity to leverage your procedural expertise and professional enthusiasm to ensure the accurate collection and recording of scientific data – in-line with the requirements of our clients' drug development studies.

Working within a leading Contract Research Organisation, the Licensed Animal Technician responsibilities will include:

- Contributing towards the set up and practical delivery of in–vivo studies.
- Performing regulated procedures in-line with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
- Carrying out husbandry duties to ensure the cleanliness of all operational areas.
- Ensuring that all studies are in full compliance with protocols, departmental best practice, company policy and client expectations.
- Working in conjunction with the Team Leader/Deputy to ensure the efficient scheduling of study related work.
- Liaising with Data Managers to enable the accurate collation of study related data.
- Participating in client site visits, where appropriate.
- Assisting, as required, with the review of standard operating procedures.

The key skills and educational/experience-related criteria for this Licensed Animal Technician position are as follows:

- You should ideally possess a current Home Office Personal Licence or sufficient related experience to justify a Personal Licence application.
- Ideally an Institute of Animal Technology, BTEC, National/Higher National Diploma, BSc or equivalent level qualification in an animal-related subject.
- Extensive professional experience gained from working with one or more species group (e.g. rodents, canines, primates, etc.) is preferred.
- You will ideally have a team-orientated approach, together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- You will ideally high level of attention to detail, conducive to the delivery of timely and accurate data.
- You will ideally be committed to ongoing professional development, including a willingness to acquire and utilise new skills, in-line with business demands.

Education/Qualifications Educational standard should include an Institute of Animal Technology qualification and may include a relevant BTEC National/Higher National Diploma or relevant degree.

It is required that the Licensed Animal Technician will actively manage his or her own continued professional and career development.


The successful candidate will have successfully gained a Home Office Personal License.
