THE COMPANY:

The world leader in the provision of software systems to the Music and Entertainment industry requires a database specialist with experience in Oracle and/or SQL Server to perform systems integration, reporting, business intelligence and data conversion work in their newly-formed Data Services team.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Essential:

• Commercial experience working with Oracle and/or SQL Server
• At least 3 years of full lifecycle experience with mid to large-scale integration/data migration software projects
• At least 3 years of commercial experience writing and supporting SQL queries and reports
• Experience with System Integration or ETL using tools such as MSBI, SSIS, Oracle OWB, Oracle ODI or Informatica
• Used to working in the “guts” of a database and an understanding of the structures, the relationships and query run testing.
• This is a client-facing role, so we need a “business analyst” kind of personality; somebody who is happy and confident with external activities such as requirements gathering, training and client support.
• Please note we are NOT seeking a DBA!

Highly Preferred

• Experience configuring and supporting End User reporting tools (Business Objects, Cognos Impromptu, PowerPlay, Crystal Reports, etc.)
• Experience with enterprise class middleware (JBOSS, Apache, MS BizTalk , Oracle SOA)
• Hands-on experience converting ERP software data and integrating data with SAP, Oracle Applications, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and/or other enterprise class software



THE ROLE:

There are three things the Data Services team are responsible for:

• Systems Integration (ETL/Middleware)
• Reporting & Business Intelligence
• Data Conversion projects.

This is a brand new role in which your main task is to deliver to client requirements along those three lines. One advantage of this role is it encompasses all of the company’s product lines, so you will gain exposure to all of their client sectors: Music, Film, TV and Consumer Products Licensing. Your involvement would be as a technical SME in multiple, simultaneous, complex integration and reporting projects providing issue identification, resolution & tracking, status reporting and consulting throughout the integration life cycle.



THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a newly-formed team, so you’d be “getting in early” in time to help the team grow in the UK and US. They deem this an “interesting time” due to the fact that this is an opportunity to influence the direction of the Data Services team in terms of the technologies and tools they’ll use going forward.

You will also be involved in a new product: They want to build a replacement reporting tool and bring it to market, bringing in better BI tools and dashboards to sit alongside the reporting capability.

They integrate regularly with the big ERPs and other systems within their clients and hence are proactively “upping their game” in terms of the enterprise integrations story they offer in addition.
