This an excellent opportunity for someone with community development skills to work on this exciting project; identifying and supporting a growing team of volunteers including Local Carer Ambassadors, connecting carers with their local communities. This is a funded post and is expected to last until October 2017.
The Key Aims of the Post are:
1. To support the Wales Director in the recruitment, training and support of a team of volunteers and Local Ambassadors across Wales
2. To develop Carers Wales’ local presence with carers across Wales including individual, group and affiliate members.
3. To work with statutory and third sector partners to gather sufficient data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the programme.
Overall purpose and focus of the project and role Carers UK has a highly motivated team of over 70 volunteer Ambassadors across the UK, connecting with carers in their local communities and putting them in touch with the support that Carers UK and local organisations can provide.
Carers Wales has been running a small pilot project in West Wales since January 2014 and we are now aiming to roll out the programme across Wales. The Programme Officer, in liaison with Wales and UK colleagues, will support a growing team of volunteers including Local Ambassadors across Wales. This will help us to increase our local presence; supporting carers in their local communities and putting them in touch with the advice, information and support that we and local organisations can provide. A key part of the role will be gathering sufficient evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness of the programme.
The main duties will include the recruitment of volunteers; the management and support of volunteers; data collection and Information and the role will require the ability to travel regularly to locations across Wales and occasionally other parts of the UK.
