Senior Modelling & Simulation Engineer
Within the European Space industry. This company is one of the leading companies developing spacecraft simulators for the European Space Agency (ESA) and other customers. This company developed an Entry Descent and Landing (EDL) simulator, called EAGLE, which is an extensible framework based on Matlab/Simulink and supports simulations throughout the spacecraft lifecycle, from concept studies to hardware-in-the-loop verification. EAGLE is used on a number of ESA projects to support analysis, design, verification and validation of advanced guidance, navigation and control concepts for missions to Mars and the Moon. Working closely with ESA and industrial partners, This company continues to develop EAGLE to incorporate scenarios and functionality relevant to upcoming missions and expand the suite of tools available for the user community. The opportunity is there for EAGLE now to be adopted across a broad range of science exploration missions.
The Role
This company is seeking to recruit a Senior Modelling and Simulation Engineer to lead the EAGLE development and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to perform a significant role not only within this company but also within the European Space industry. In addition the successful candidate will be able to lead innovations and assist defining strategies not only within the Space industry but also for accessing a wider market for EAGLE.
The candidate shall detail the level of their expertise and experience with Matlab/Simulink for modelling closed-loop control systems in their application, as well as their expertise in guidance, navigation and control. The candidate should also include details of team leadership experience and customer interaction that is relevant to this role. You should be able to work to deadlines, have good inter-personal skills and bring a flexible approach to your work.

Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will as a minimum have:
• In depth knowledge of Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience in modelling and analysis of closed-loop control systems
• Experience in guidance, navigation and control
• Experience of full software lifecycle from requirements to delivery.
• Experience of working within industry or the commercial sector
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Experience in interacting with customers and suppliers at all technical levels
• Eligibility to work and live in the UK and EU
• Flexibility for travel within Europe, when needed.
The following knowledge would be an asset
• Experience of real-time simulation and C programming
• Experience of the Space industry
• Experience of simulating spacecraft systems and EDL would be a distinct
advantage
• Knowledge of MISRA coding standards
• Production of technical roadmaps
