An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualitative Research Manager based in Birmingham to join one of the leading social research agencies in the country. With a turnover of around £6 million per annum their clients include central government departments, government agencies, local authorities, housing associations and other social landlords, police forces and the health sector.
Working as a key member of the Research Team you will manage a portfolio of clients and ad hoc research projects across all aspects of research delivery, project management, tendering and business development. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the team including building internal expertise and adding value across the business.
As a Qualitative Research Manager your duties will include:
• Project planning, development and management to fulfil client brief and research objectives.
• Moderating focus groups and depth interviews sensitively, professionally and courteously in full awareness of and adherence to all MRS, QMS and Information Security guidelines.
• Applying appropriate projective techniques, stimulus materials and psychological models to encourage individuals to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions openly and honestly in order to elicit relevant and in-depth information to address research objectives.
• Supporting the Research Director in responding to client briefs and tenders and in pitch presentations for new business.
• Identifying new business opportunities within client portfolio.
• Writing proposals based on client specifications for review by the Research Director.
• Ensuring quality and accuracy of all qualitative research outputs.
• Maintaining awareness of client objectives at all times to deliver projects on brief and within deadline.
• Writing reports for review by the Research Director which deliver against client and project objectives.
• Developing and presenting client de-briefs with the support of the Research Director.
• Being aware of project costs and strive to deliver the minimum agreed contribution.
• Contributing to the direction of the research department with regards to business development and client service activities.
An ideal Qualitative Research Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:
• Degree qualification (2:1 or above).
• Previous experience working within this role would be beneficial.
• Research experience gained in an agency or client side environment.
• Thorough knowledge of qualitative research techniques.
• A high standard of attention to detail.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Possess effective business writing and reporting skills.
• Knowledge and experience of one or more of the following policy areas: employment and skills; education; local government; housing; and health.
• Excellent client interface skills.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships and interact effectively with decision makers.
• Excellent presentation skills with the confidence to deliver presentations to a wide audience.
• Ability to deliver under pressure and to deadlines.
• Ability to prioritise, plan, manage and organise own and others work effectively.
• Contributes to the wider management of the Research team.
• Competent user of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
• Ability to use Nvivo software desirable.
• Driving licence is desirable.
• Due to the nature of the work will involve working outside of normal working hours.
