Beechwood College is an innovative specialist education, residential care and clinical service which caters for young people and adults with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and other associated complex needs, including behaviours that challenge.
Beechwood College is a two part service that operates with one vision; to enrich the lives of all students, promoting lifelong learning and skill development. Registered as an independent Further Education College and Care Home for Younger Adults, Beechwood College is located in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan, on the outskirts of Cardiff and is designed to provide specialist education and residential care services for up to 67 young people and adults from the age of 16+.
Beechwood College prides itself on offering meaningful packages of lifelong education and residential care to those who have in the past struggled to access conventional mainstream services; offering each young person and adult an individually tailored and holistic programme of support; equipping them to face the challenges of later life.
As a service provider, Beechwood College continues to build upon prior success and aspires to become a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for young people and adults with an ASC and associated complex needs.
As a Home Leader at Beechwood College you will be required to provide educational, residential and therapeutic care and support to all students, enabling them to gain greater independence and confidence. You will also provide middle management leadership to Team Leaders and less experienced staff to ensure the development of best residential care practice and optimal outcomes for all children and young people. Whilst this role will predominantly require you to support our students with personal needs and care within their residential setting, you will also be expected to work across all areas of the College including alongside the lecturers within classrooms, clinical services staff and the wider community. This post involves shift work.
You will actively seek to encourage and promote the development of independence and transferable life skills for our students, and work in proactive close partnership with our multidisciplinary team, care coordinators and the students’ family.
We are seeking to recruit a candidate with a passion and commitment to delivering specialist education and residential care to those with autism and Asperger’s syndrome to join an expanding, successful educational organization that puts the needs of its students and staff at the centre of all decision making.
To be successful Unit Leader you will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and an innovative approach to enriching the lives of those we support and leading others to do the same. Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn new knowledge and skills will enable you to develop within our expanding and sector leading organization.
To apply for this post you must have completed your QCF Level 3 in Adults or Children and Young People.
