About the Systems Development Analyst (PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML) role:

The QMUL IT Services team is seeking engaging and dynamic e-Learning Systems Development Analysts to help develop our services in a rapidly expanding e-Learning market.

You will be responsible for the installation, development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our enterprise E-Learning systems ( LMS, lecture capture, online assessment, etc.); working directly with our educational and business users with regards to development, technical planning, testing, and implementation. Utilising your technical expertise to drive educational initiatives and innovation.

Ideally this would have been with the Moodle learning management system where you would have created and modified Moodle plugins.

The position offers the chance of working in a technical challenging environment utilizing a variety of tools and software.

Key Requirements of the Systems Development Analyst (PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML):

The successful candidate will need to have extensive hands-on experience of supporting and developing web based applications in PHP and various frameworks.

Ideally you should have experience of supporting and developing a range of e-Learning services such as for the Moodle virtual learning environment.

* Demonstrable web development application experience using programming technologies such as PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, AJAX and CSS.
* MySQL and writing complex SQL queries.
* Optimising code and queries; methodical, organised and structured approach to writing code and problem solving
* Proven experience with the use of the LAMP stack.
* Some Linux system administration and tools experience (grep, cron, ssh, scp, vi, mysql), preferably RHEL/CentOS. Comfortable working at the command line.
* Text file analysis using tools such as advanced text editors, Perl, diff, sed, grep, regular expressions.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a can-do attitude
* Good problem solver, enjoying variety and delivering efficient, scalable and client focused solutions
* Excellent understanding of testing techniques, technologies and best practices
* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills (to both technical and non-technical audiences).
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work on own initiative

Desirable Requirements of the Systems Development Analyst (PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML):

* Development of Moodle plugins and extensions using the Moodle and Zend frameworks
* Knowledge of the Moodle data model.
* Moodle technical administrator actions and system configuration changes
* Experience with GIT Version Control and GITHub web systems.
* Authentication technologies Shibboleth, LDAP
* Ethernet networks, including problem-solving using GUI and command-line tools
* Working in the educational sector

The post is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be in the range £35,319 - £41,553 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
