FINANCE OFFICER MUST HAVE SIMS EXPERIENCE
SUBJECT TO OBTAINING A DBS CERTIFICATE
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Payment of Accounts
-
Administer the payment of invoices after carrying out the necessary checks and authorisations and inputting onto SIMS.

Liaise with suppliers.

Maintenance of creditor and debtor records in order that payment of invoice legislation is complied with.

Comply with the Construction Industry scheme when paying contractors.
-
Administer, monitor and control the petty cash system including reimbursements as necessary.
-
Administration of cheque printing, acquiring authorisation signatures, mailing to suppliers etc.
Cash Bankings
-
Assist the Financial Services Team Leader with the monthly bank reconciliations.

Reconcile cash/cheque receipts and prepare for banking.

Maintain safe custody of cash and cheques until banked.
Finance Duties
-
Administer any necessary accounting journals.
-
Administer the update of SIMS in accordance with guidance from the Financial Services Team Leader.

Support Departments with financial queries.
-
Assist with budget monitoring.
-
Maintain financial records as necessary.
-
Assist in the preparation of financial reports as necessary.
-
Assist with the production of management reports as directed by the Financial Services Team Leader.

Assist with the monitoring of Grant Schemes.
Payroll Duties
-
Complete the Form 95A each month and obtain the necessary authorisations.

Match salaries as per the monthly payroll prints to the budgeted amounts and identify any differences.

Liaise with Payroll to amend or make any payroll adjustments.
Other Issues
-
Flexibility will be required in order to meet changing situations to meet the service area needs.

To provide cover at lunch times and holiday times for other finance staff to maintain the service provision.
-
The implications of the Data Protection Act must be complied with whilst carrying out these duties.

Training will be provided to meet the needs of the post.
