The Role
Health Promoters will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team performing NHS Health Checks in community outreach events that increase early identification of cardiovascular disease and other chronic conditions in deprived and hard to reach groups. The Health Promoter role includes helping to promote events within local communities, supporting the smooth running of the event itself, encouraging members of the public to receive a health check and providing support for people throughout their engagement with the event.

Key duties include:
•    Distributing promotional materials, (e.g. posters, leaflets, balloons), prior to and during events.
•    Helping people to appreciate the personal benefits to them of a health check.
•    Advise interested people whether or not they are eligible for a health check; where possible provide information to those who aren't eligible about where else they could receive a health check or receive appropriate support from a health professional. Listen to, acknowledge and record any complaints about the eligibility criteria for the service.
•    Providing people with consent forms to read and explain the consent process.
•    Answering any questions, (seeking advice if necessary), raised by people waiting for a health check.
•    Providing sensitive, listening support to people who need more help at the end of the health check.
•    Providing people with information on how to register with a GP.

•    Great personal communication skills - energetic & empathetic. 
•    Self-starting and energetic - willing to accept direction but able to work independently.
•    Hard-working and resilient.
•    Excellent organisation skills & attention to detail.
•    Reliable time-keeping.
•    Passion & commitment to public health and improving people's health and well-being.
•    Strong connections with the local community and experience in health promotion or training OR currently studying or recently graduated from a degree course specialising in Health Promotion, Public Health or Health Psychology.

Additional Information
You must live within commutable distance of London and be willing to travel to all London boroughs.
