Our client is a charity that provides housing, support and care for people at different stages of later life.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Operations Officer to join their team based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The main purpose of this role is to provide leadership, vision and strategic direction for the Society whilst being responsible for the overall financial and operational management of the Society, ensuring the effective delivery of an exceptional quality, profitable and cost effective service for our residents, upholding core values and mission. Within this role your main responsibilities will include preparing and leading the implementation of the new business plan including reviewing the progress against the plan, ensuring the appropriate strategic alignment to government and other key stakeholders and identifying new potential developments and delivering proactively marketed and viable business proposals. You will also be expected to ensure that strong strategic and annual planning processes are in place, develop appropriate KPIs, annual service plans and reports and keep up to date in developments of policy and regulation for care and related areas.

The successful candidate will have worked within a senior management role previously within the care sector and will hold a degree or equivalent level qualification within a relevant subject along with, ideally, a recognised management qualification. You must have experience of leading and managing change and you will be capable of motivating and maintaining high performance of staff and volunteers. You must also be able to set and manage budgets, manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and provide visionary leadership. You will have detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory framework within the care sector and you should have an understanding of the implementation of the principles of care for older people in a variety of settings. Their ideal candidate will be self-directed and determined with a high level of personal drive and will understand the importance of being personable, open and enthusiastic. You will have empathy with older people and our client's ethos and you will be flexible in your approach and able to adjust easily to changing priorities.
