Buyer - Central Manchester - Full-Time Position - Salary Range - £22,000 - £28,000 + bonus DOE

This market leading company are seeking a Buyer to be responsible for sourcing, planning and purchasing a range of products to sell on their Domu uk website. This is a key position that they expect to develop with company growth. Your role will work within a category management structure collaborating with marketing to make the selected products are a success through optimising online content and communicating the differentiating USP's.

They are looking for someone with the following experience and skills:

Qualifications/Experience:

- University degree level or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 year's experience working as Buyer within a purchasing department.

Critical Skills:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation, influencing and persuasion skills
- Ability to build rapport and relationship with suppliers and colleagues
- Strategic thinking
- Strong commercial awareness.

The ideal candidate must have experience of sourcing from a wide UK supplier base and a knowledge of Direct Importing would be beneficial. A proven track record and experience of the on-line marketplace are key.

The role of the Buyer has a considerable amount of responsibility and autonomy in what is often a pressured environment. Understanding and reacting to changes in demand, supply and logistics will also mean this role works closely with the Supply Chain team. As a Buyer, you will also work with the QA department to ensure that quality is always maintained through good manufacturing practices and that safety and legislative compliance is exceeded at all times. This will involve arranging sample checks and ensuring UK suppliers adhere to their guidelines and signed contracts.

A strong negotiator with an analytical mind able to understand market trends, company policy, logistical requirements, financial budgets, price competitiveness, product quality, quantity and availability.

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing new merchandise across a wide variety of product categories including Housewares, Small Domestic Appliances, Bathroom, Household and Cleaning and to a lesser degree Home Décor, Lighting and Furniture. The ideal candidate must be able to ensure they have a competitive, high quality, attractive product offer and fully understand customer needs and trends. They should be able to maximise sales and minimise costs whilst providing a commercially viable range of merchandise at highly competitive prices. Keeping up to date with market trends and reacting to changes in demand are key elements of the role.

Throughout the year, tasks typically involve:

- Monthly KPI's will be required to judge performance on various metrics such as rationalisation, revenue, compliance, supplier performance and delivery on time rate, excess stock, product quality and more.
- Sourcing and re-sourcing products to ensure their offer is competitive and of the highest possible quality.
