Health & Safety Officer

A Health & Safety Officer is required to join a leading expert in immunoassay development and manufacturing services, and provides an extensive portfolio of products and technologies to global diagnostic markets.

The Person

Reporting directly to the QA team leader, the HSE Officer has direct responsibility for effectively managing all the HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) requirements for the site. You will Identify and drive improvement activities throughout the site, adding value and improvements where required. You will have excellent communication skills and be able proactively promote, coach and motivate the site with regards to HSE.

The Role

- Three to five years' experience in a HSE role within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, using Microsoft software packages.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with external and internal customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent regulatory knowledge with regards to Health, Safety and Environmental regulation
- Excellent working knowledge of Green Dragon environmental standard, ISO14001 and awareness of the upcoming ISO45001.
- Qualified to degree level.
- IOSH trained
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma.
- NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety.
- IEMA in Environmental Management
- Knowledge and training in preparing COSHH assessments and Product Safety Data Sheets
- Knowledge of preparing process and equipment risk assessments.
- Have the capacity to bring logical thought processes and impartiality to solve practical problems
- The ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and manage own time, in a busy fast paced environment
- Some travel to other sites may occasionally be involved.
