R&D Team Leader - Ion detection product development

Full time / part time: The position is full time, but flexible arrangements would be considered for the right candidate

Permanent / fixed term: Permanent

Salary: £30k - £45k Depending on experience

Start date: On or before 1st September 2014

Experience required: A track record delivering R&D/product development or similar projects

Essential requirements:

Abilities:

• Self starter with good communication skills and leadership

• Proven ability to motivate and manage teams

• Ability to plan and monitor work programmes

• Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines

• Flexibility to respond to changing circumstances

• Willingness to work within a wider team and ensure timely contributions to the wider goals.

Education, skills and experience:

• Qualified to at least degree level in a natural science or engineering discipline, with a post graduate degree an advantage.

• Strong communication and report writing skills.

Desirable:

Experience in:

• GC, Mass Spectrometry and other analytical techniques

• Aerosol science

• Ion selection technologies

• A sound ability in physical modelling, numerical calculations and mathematics.

ANCON Technologies is seeking an experienced researcher to lead a small team (numbering 3-5) of highly qualified scientists and engineers developing leading edge scientific and medical diagnostic instruments. The candidate must be confident in working within a focussed and fast paced environment and be both forthright in their views as well as flexible in adapting solutions to meet changing requirements.

Candidates must have several years experience in either engineering, or natural sciences, with experience in Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Physics being an advantage. They must be able to demonstrate their ability to succeed in a leadership role. The person appointed will report to senior management and be expected to deliver on time and on budget.
