About Our Client:
Do you want to get home from work knowing you have made a real difference to someone’s life? Our client believes that every adult with a learning disability has the right to lead an active & fulfilling life & takes pride in supporting individuals to enjoy greater control and independence. They are a national charity providing high-quality personalised support to over 700 adults with learning disabilities & autism.
About the role:
They are looking for both full and part-time support workers to join their teams in Surrey and Hampshire. You will support individuals to plan what they wish to do each day, take them shopping, help them prepare meals & support them in a range of activities from cooking to bowling, swimming, going to the cinema, the local pub, encouraging new opportunities. You will be able to take difficult situations in your stride, remain calm & be confident in dealing with them. This can be very rewarding role.
About you:
Previous experience of working in the care sector or supporting someone is not essential as comprehensive induction & training is provided. You must however, have a genuine interest in supporting people with learning disabilities and be able to clearly differentiate between care and support: the emphasis is on enabling people to do things for themselves, not doing things for them.
Candidates must provide eligibility of their right to work in the United Kingdom and the role is subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure Baring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position and any disclosure will be used fairly. If a disclosure reveals something of concern, matters will be discussed before the job offer is considered.
Our client values people:
They value their staff and provide professional training and great support as well as opportunities for development. You will also need to be flexible and be able to work a shift pattern including early and late shifts, as well as sleep-ins. They can offer you:
• The opportunity to take on a rewarding and meaningful role.
• Comprehensive training and the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification i.e. Qualifications and Credit Framework.
• The start of a career in the care sector.
• Generous benefits and enhancements.
