My client is a luxury mobile phone brand based in Church Crookham looking for a product line production manager to work within their supply chain department.

 

  • The Product Line Production Manager is responsible for negotiating production capacity and targets with Planning and with other Product Line Production Managers in line with the Integrated Business Plan (IBP).
  • The role sets targets, rewards and manages performance of Product Line team.
  • The role is responsible for operational costs and investments to deliver to the agreed business targets.
  • The Product Line team will consist of Operations Project Leader, Industrial Engineer, Production Engineer, Skilled Operators and Supervisor structure to build products. The role will negotiate resources from Quality and Test Engineering.
  • Manages a dedicated team with end to end responsibility in Supply Chain and Customer Services for a Product Line.
  • This covers Pre BDI (Concepting) through product development, lifetime manufacture, post ramp down and end of life Customer Service Support.
  • Responsible for month by month adherence to Supply Chain/Customer Service key milestones for products and variants in own Product Line.
  • Responsible for month to month Build, Ship, Quality and Efficiency of Product Line and any related Sub-Assemblies.

 

  • Responsibility

    Proactively work in Pre BDI, BDI to BDX and BDX to BDS stages of Vitesse to reflect the Supply Chain Strategy and improve quality and cost of the product.

  • Proactively Benchmark own product line to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Build production capacity to agreed plan (IBP).
  • Proactively manage component quality and design quality issues through relevant teams.
  • Drive Purchasing/Supplier Quality/Program Quality to resolve issues.
  • Ensure through Vitesse process that parts and supplier are fit for purpose.
  • Work with Quality organisation to ensure audit of products daily/weekly/monthly.
  • Work with Concepting/ID to validate product design pre BDX will meet supply chain strategy.
  • Work with Main Program including Variants to introduce products to production on schedule and to volume plan.
  • Investigate and implement improvements in performance data and communications.Implement supply chain process, checklists and manage milestones review.
  • Ensure FINUI, Label, Laser, Scrap Material and their corrective action plans for Product Production Line.
  • Responsible for First Time Pass rates for product meet targets Investigate and Implement continuous improvement to drive first time pass yield.R
  • Responsible for SW packages delivered from R&D into production.Produce daily/weekly/monthly communications.
  • Investigate and implement improvements in performance data and communications.

 

Skills

  • Proven leadership and cross functional relationship building qualities.
  • Meet regularly with Training Manager to ensure all staff are trained and able to perform the task to which they are assigned together with personal development plans and long-term training requirements
  • Actively set and communicate build, ship and quality targets to production staff, as agreed with Planning
  • Ensure that the production lines are loaded with material such that no line stoppage is incurred.
  • Ensure that manufacturing instructions and operating procedures are communicated appropriately and that all operating staff adhere to the instructions.
  • Ensure processes for scrap, stripdown, preventative maintenance any other data-collection processes are carried out as defined by the Quality and/or Production Manager
  • Communicate verbally as necessary to all staff (individually or as a group)
  • Chair KPI improvement meetings.
  • Co-ordinate the workload and priorities of supporting engineers for the line.
  • Liaise with other Product Manufacturing Managers to balance load and address staffing levels
  • Maintain a very high level of housekeeping (5S) that reflects the brand.
  • Ability to analyse, set, communicate, agree and implement targets.
  • Excellent presentation and oral communication skills are essential - Strong ability to be able to present complex data in a simple manner in which the essence of the problem is easily understood to Senior Management and Shopfloor.
  • Facilitator and Negotiator - key element of role is the bringing together of cross functional teams and reaching conclusions to problems quickly.
  • Pragmatic person with the ability to see others perspective.
  • Ability to work with others to drive change in operating models and processes and see to fruition.
