Position: Departmental Electrical Engineer    
Location: Chirk, Near Chester
Salary: Excellent

Our client is the leading Global manufacturer of wood panel and laminate products. They are a vibrant £250 million turnover manufacturing business, the leader in their field and proud of their record of significant year-on-year investment back into the Company. Operating 24/7/365, their strong manufacturing base comprises a range of significant plant and machinery across a range of distinct production processes, and is underpinned by a large engineering and maintenance function.

They are now looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their multi-disciplined Engineering team.

The Role:

- Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will be tasked with providing electrical expertise to optimise output from £multi-million, industry leading processes.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of the site’s electrical infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable delivery of power to all site activities.
- Working closely with process management, you will plan, priorities, implement and review strategies to ensure that continuous improvement takes place within their high output operations.
- Provide electrical design, installation and commissioning support to revenue / small capital projects and be creative in order to find effective solutions.
- Provide second level support to maintenance teams in reactive maintenance situations.
- Using your experience and knowledge, you will minimise unplanned downtime by providing solutions to complex electrical engineering challenges.
- Assist in the development of the site’s electrical skills base.

Qualifications and Experience

- Candidates preferably will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or be HND qualified with extensive experience including a management / supervisory role.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation and the implementation of statutory duties to ensure compliance including relevant safety documentation.

Core Skills

- Be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge of LV & HV: distribution systems, Motor Control Centres / Control Panels and electrical installation from within a process or manufacturing environment.
- Have experience with PLC’s, preferably Siemens S5 & S7, automation systems, instrumentation and SCADA RSView / Wonderware.
- Full knowledge of safe systems of work.
- Ability to implement and sustain electrical maintenance programmes across the site.
- Service Provider & contractor management experience and the ability to build relationships with key suppliers.

The following skills / experience would be an advantage but can be gained over time:

- HV Authorised to work on 11kV networks to include safety, maintenance and upgrade activities.
- Working knowledge of DC drives.
- HAZOP experience.
- Experience of working with legislative bodies including HSE, EA and local councils.
