We are recruiting  for a Procurement Co-ordinator to join the Supply Chain Department of our client who is an established manufacturing organisation based in the Tredegar area.

The role involves all aspects of buying and supplier relationship management. As the role is wide in terms of scope and demand it requires a person with the ability to be flexible, with sound self-management skills to
embrace and maximise the importance of the role and its evolving priorities and challenges. The role requires a level headed person with ability to remain calm and focused on priority tasks. You will always seek to achieve best outcome for long term benefits where it matters, mixed with short term wins in those areas that allow.

A can-do attitude, mixed with your ability to seek value and engage with stakeholders will be paramount to your success in this role. Previous purchasing experience is a pre-requisite, with the successful candidate showing a natural ability to negotiate in a friendly yet professional manner. Previous evidence of successful negotiations will be needed.

Arithmetic reasoning ability and numeracy should be above average. Communication skills, persuasiveness, persistence and a resilient temperament are required especially as this is an outward facing role and will be representing the company’s respected name. The successful candidate should not be so introverted as to be incapable of team work, nor so extroverted as to be incapable of sticking to principal.

Annual targets are driven by the strategic direction of the business; suffice to say that flexibility and wider-scope reasoning are needed to ensure year-on-year progression. Ideally CIPS qualified.

Whilst direct reporting is to the Head of Supply Chain, close working relations with other team members of the Supply Chain and Sales & New Product Development departments is paramount to our ongoing success.

  • Participate in the management of supplier performance.
  • Sourcing of new raw materials.
