LIBRARY ATTENDANT (EVENINGS/WEEKENDS)

£15,456 to £17,678 p.a. pro rata

Part-time 20.5 hours per week for 36 weeks

(Two posts)

Two reliable and trustworthy individuals, with excellent customer care and communication skills, are required to take a lead role in the security and safety of the library, its customers and its contents, during evenings and weekends. Key duties will include opening and closing the building at designated times, staffing the library’s main entrance and operating the visitor access control system, patrolling the library to ensure that the Library Regulations are observed by customers, answering straightforward enquiries from library users and undertaking routine clerical tasks. 

You should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, and a pass in English Language would be an advantage. The ability to work as part of a team, basic literacy and numeracy skills, and excellent customer care, interpersonal and verbal communication skills are essential. It is important that you can communicate with a diverse range of people, especially young adults. You should also be able to undertake moderately physical work.

You must be able to work evenings and weekends on a shift-rota basis, including during school half-terms.

The anticipated start date for these appointments is the week beginning 6 October 2014.
