DW is a national Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) and given the job requirements it is specifically recruiting a disabled person to represent it as Citizen Directed Co-operatives Cymru Development Officer.

Citizen Directed Co-operatives Cymru (CDCC) is a unique and innovative project, believed to be the first of its kind in the UK. It will engage with local authorities, disability organisations, direct payments support schemes, disabled people and their families across Wales to establish at least one citizen directed co-operative to support people with managing their direct payments.

As the Development Officer, you will coordinate all activities involved in developing, delivering and evaluating the project.

We seek an exceptional candidate with proven project management experience and demonstrable commitment to achieving the rights, equality and independence of disabled people. In this pioneering role you will use your substantial skills in co-production, facilitation and presentation to reignite the debate around Direct Payments in Wales culminating in the creation of an alternative model enabl people to have greater control over their lives.

The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected” and are not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account.
