Randstad Education Plymouth is seeking applications for cover supervisors and support roles for secondary schools throughout Devon and Cornwall. Ideally applicants will have some or all of the following:
Degree Educated ? preferably in a secondary curriculum core subject such as English, Maths or Science.
Experience of working with young people between 11 ? 18 years old for a minimum period of 3 months, preferably in the UK.
Experience of working in a role as a mentor, trainer, lecturer or similar.
Any formal teaching and lecturing qualifications will be considered, for example PTLLS, CTLLS and DTLLS, or TEFL.
You must hold a current, valid certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service, or be eligible to apply for one.
We are also very keen to hear from those qualified to teach and lecture in the Further and Higher Education sectors that would like to work with secondary aged children.
Randstad Education Plymouth will be placing temporary staff in to secondary school support roles throughout the upcoming academic year. Along with the ideal level of education and experience you will need to demonstrate the confidence and aptitude to deliver lesson content to large groups of 11 ? 16/18 year olds. This will be monitored from your first day of work with feedback and support given. Assignments will range from single days to longer term placements, there could be potential for fixed term or permanent positions for the right candidates.
Support staff in schools work along side the teaching staff to ensure that a consistent quality of learning is provided for students where teachers are not available. There will be opportunities to deliver classes on your own, support other teachers in the classroom and to work in a range of different subjects within the secondary curriculum. The individuals that succeed in this arena will be those that can demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, commitment to the role and a real desire to work.
This will be a rewarding role in which you can build experience of working in a formal, compulsory education environment, whilst providing valuable support to schools where qualified teaching staff are not available. You will be formally interviewed for the role as part of the selection process and must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills .
