Self build
Build it yourself

Insurance
The most common insurance covers building works as well as employers' and public liability. Additional arrangements may be made for building warranties, self-build legal expenses protection and personal accident cover.
With such complexities it's pretty obvious that if you've little or no experience in this field, it's best to get some expert advice from the word go.
There are plenty of organisations which will help you with advice and point you in the right direction as far as finding the right plot of land and even run advice seminars.
For example, the BuildCare insurance offered by BuildStore is tailor made for self building. It also converts into standard house insurance when you move in saving you money. More information on the insurance issues facing self-builders can be found in BuildStore's
insurance section. There's even an annual self-build homes show the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show - held every year in September at Birmingham's NEC.
Building your own home can be a very rewarding experience. With the correct preparation and advice it doesn't have to be the DIY nightmare you may think it is.
Have a look through the other sections below for more information and look through the products and services section to get started looking for land.
